Niger Delta Avengers Hit NNPC’s Crude, Gas Trunklines in Delta

Okrika, NIGERIA: Masked Ateke Tom militants hold their guns as they arrive at their camp, 13 April 2007, in Okrika, Rivers State. Ateke Tom is the leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante, an ethnic Ijaw militia in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Many militant groups in the delta say they are fighting for the control of government oil wells. Five people, including a senior police officer, were killed in clashes between rival cult gangs in southern Nigeria's oil-rich state of Rivers, the police said today. •  Demands self-rule, not pipeline protection contracts
  • Vandalisation will hurt Delta more than FG, says Okowa

Rampaging militants of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on Thursday night bombed another pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) around Batan community, in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state
In a message on its Twitter handle, the renewed face of militancy in the oil-rich Niger Delta said that it carried out the bombing just before midnight on Thursday.
The group noted that it carried out the attack in keeping with its warning that the international oil company should not attempt to fix its strategic pipeline at Abitiye area which the group had blown up recently.
The NDA said that it successfully carried out the bombing of the pipeline despite the fact that the facility was heavily guided by military personnel.
The group while acknowledging the reported meeting of Niger-Delta stakeholders meeting held last Wednesday in Abuja, said it was as an insult to the sensibility of the people of the Niger Delta region, which it said needed independence from the Nigerian federation.
NDA said it was infuriated by talks of the federal government offering the region palliatives including contracts to carry out surveillance of pipelines in the region against vandalism and crude theft.
“The Niger Delta stakeholders’ meeting is an insult to the people of the Niger Delta. What we need is a sovereign state, not pipeline contracts”, it declared.
It further warned via its Tweeter handle: “To the International Oil Companies, IOCs and the Nigeria military, watch out! Something big is about to happen and it would shock the whole world.”
There are growing lamentations by the federal government and other state holders about the huge financial losses due to the drastic cuts created by the series of oil facility bombings just as electricity supply in most parts of the country has hit very low levels owing to shortage of gas supply.
THISDAY recalled that last Thursday night’s bombing of the trunkline took place less than 12 hours after an attack on two Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) facilities, which was said to have grounded the multinational company’s entire swamp operations in Delta State.
The renewed attacks also coincided with NDA’s ultimatum to oil companies operating in the Niger Delta to stop production and move out of the region.....

Innovation: Meet China's "Land Airbus" allows cars drive through-underneath

A new take on mass transit may be headed to China as early as the end of the year: A so-called "Land Airbus" system that looks like an overgrown monorail as it motors over existing lanes of traffic.
The big catch: cars can actually drive under the Land Airbus.
For now, the concept only exists as a scale model created by the Shenzen Hashi Future Parking Equipment and as an animated video by Transit Explore Bus. Both Chinese firms intend to work together to deploy a full-size trial version on urban Chinese roads by August of this year, they said this week at an expo in Beijing. The first unit is currently under construction in China.
The Land Airbus moves at about 37 mph, but its real utility lies in its human-carrying capacity: As many as 1,400 people can be squeezed onto a single bus at once. It's also said to be cheaper than trains or tram systems.
In addition, compared to a rail system or a subway, the Land Airbus can be built and deployed much quicker in order to remedy immediate traffic concerns. The Airbus travels on rails mounted to existing roadways and is high enough off the ground for cars to fit under it, but large buses and trucks would be a no-go. However, big trucks are banned from the urban areas of many Chinese cities anyway.
The Land Airbus is meant more for local transit than Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk's proposed Hyperloop system being developed in the United States. The Land Airbus would also require significantly less investment in infrastructure, although it doesn't move nearly as quickly.

Samuel Eto's Private Jet Seized In Nigeria

Football legend Samuel Eto'o came into Nigeria yesterday to honour Joseph Yobo in his testimonial match which took place in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. He came in his private jet and after playing in the match, Samuel Eto'o, who wanted to fly back immediately, was unable to do so as his private jet was not allowed to fly out. The Airport authority claimed he didn't have permission to land at the Port Harcourt airport and fined him. And according to a LIB source, after paying the fine, his plane was still not allowed to fly, up until late last night.
As of 1am early this morning, government officials and friends of the footballer were still trying to get his plane to leave the airport.

DREAMS n FANTASIES

Featured in the future
So was she borne
Nigeria the future
The future Nigeria
Nurtured by culture
Bred by alien mothers
Marginalized by tradition
If..if only there was a father
What a foundation...

How the tide of ignorance
Ignorantly swept her
How the wave of pride shook her
How her sons dined with the devil
Where served chilled lies
On a platter of greed
Selfishness were lots

It all seemed enticing
Delicious munchies
They forgot the long-spoons
And fed
In famine they fed fat
Three young brothers
Bound by a quest
Freedom!!!!
Freedom!!!!
Freedom!!!!
It was a dream
Dreamed by vision

She looked askance at peace
Peace wasn't planted
Confusion was reaped
The rich armed with a voice
Voice for their own
The poor armed with tools
Tools to quell the storm
Which! What storm?

The mighty watched
Her mothers moped
Faster tides-quicker waves
Swept the promise
Washed the smile
Dried tears on pale faces

The hope that glistened
Who sowed who reaped
Who lost who gained

Desolation a friend or foe
The rain ceased
The sun froze
Poverty incubated

Hallucinatory fantasies
Dreaming in dreams
Where glory is forsaken
Laws branded by truth
Justice well dressed
Corruption abated
Insecurity, greed, hate expelled
Selfless citizens
Selfless Nation
She awaits her saviour
Hope anew
New hope for all...

Dreams in pipes!

THE CHURCH: ITS DIVERSE BELIEF'S AND DOCTRINES

Listening to a gospel music-album by one of my favorite Nigeria gospel artiste Sinach with the track "Next in line" to cool off the harsh but resentful economical hardship of my controversial country. I was accosted by two ladies, each of the them armed with bible in hand. Dressed in a moder traditional attire each had her bag slinging from right above the elbow level. The tallest of the two greeted first and made their usual introduction of the word of God. I welcomed the two and she began by telling me how the world was gonna be destroyed and a new one made for us to build our everlasting houses where we would live happily ever after. With premonition on how things would end if I responded I decided to let her ride uninterrupted. She read a scripture and told me of some more end time expectations, but not a word from me. Whilst all this took place Sinach was uninterrupted but i had the volume of my laptop reduced when i sensed she was a bit of a stammerer.

In less than five minutes she was done. She opened her bag and brought out two bulletins of which one caught my attention. She noticed my interest and held it up and said something like "Can we tell the future ". And for the first time I spoke "If I were to ask you that question, what will be your response"? I asked. Without thinking she said "no". "In the time of old was there anyone who saw/prophesied about the future?". She responded with a "yes". So if it happened then why do you think it cant now. "Because the power has been taken away. No one now can possess the power to tell the future". Her response was pathetic and so the argument i had been avoiding all along ensued. After scoring some pointers she became more confused and called to her fellow sister "sister any contribution?".

Lets read 1st Cor 13:8. After reading the scriptural passage she gave an instance of a woman she knew that told people  they would die if they don't do certain things. "Prophecy and speaking in tongues are not of God" she said...."those speaking it where did they record it?" Perplexed  by their lack of spiritual insight it dawn on me that they lacked direction and misunderstood the scripture. Though they claim I misunderstand them. "How can you say prophesying and speaking in tongue are not of God, when the bible clearly states it as on of the gift we should so earnestly yearn for? Don't anyone in your church speak in tongues?" These and many more were the series of questions i asked. But the answers were more alarming and i am more than exhausted to continue.

It was pitiful when i asked them to open a particular verse and lo they said their bible were not up to that numbered-verse, meaning theirs is incomplete. I beg to ask, why do we as Christians deliberately shy away from spiritual truth?
Why do we so much as allow the populace to mislead us in the name of separate-belief's or doctrines when the truth is right before us?
Why don't we crave for ourselves the spirit to discerning and understanding scriptures instead of swallowing everything doctrinal interpretations laid before us by wolves in sheep clothings?

I say these not to lambaste or spite any doctrine. Differences in the Christendom started not yesterday neither will it end today. But we all as Christian's need not rely on anyone to show us the way when we already know the way "Jesus Christ".
